Flower Baskets Lampshade DIY

Love how you can take something you already have that you didn't like much anymore and turn it into something you love! That's what happened in this case.

We had a couple of small lampshades that we got as gifts at our wedding. We actually had them in our wedding registry for Pier1 Imports and back in the day they looked good but 9yrs later they were not so hot anymore. I wished I would have taken a pic before I transformed them BUT this will give you an idea of what you can do if you have a little lamp (like mine) laying around.

So, did it really cost me $1 dollar? Um, yes! Booyah! I already had the lamps and electrical tape and I bought the baskets at the end of gardening season at Walmart. They were on sale for .50 cents!

Now, if you don't have a lamp already I see some similar to mine ALL the time at the Goodwill Store...so time to go hunting DIY friend! :)

Putting it together!

Line up the baskets whichever way looks good to you.

After wrapping the tape you should have something like this. Only wrap one side for now. I wrapped my tape in between 2 of the vertical lines.

Bring the two baskets together and then take another piece of electrical tape and wrap at the opposite end of the part you already taped.

Cut a strip of electrical tape (about 3in long) and begin to wrap it around.

Take the connected planters and slide the lamp into the top whole of one of the baskets and then add the harp to the lamp.

And there you have it! A brand new lovely lampshade! You could also paint the harp so it's the same color of the baskets.

I actually made two lampshades and place them in our master bedroom! I LOVE how they turned out! :)

The estimated final cost for you may be a bit different but if you want to make it as cheap as mine then just add a bit of patience to your DIY by looking for sales (sometimes ROSS or Target will have some on clearance for a real bargain). Also, the electrical tape is only about $2 but if you have a friend that already has some then maybe they'll be nice to you and let you have 6 inches worth of theirs! :)
