DIY: Add Pizzazz to Plain Frames

If you have an Ikea nearby then you know about their photo frames. They're usually pretty reasonable. The price is so good that I bought a few but after seeing these frames around my house I thought: "hmmm..wonder if I can do something to give them a little more character?" The answer, of course, was YES! You can add character to any blank, plain, white frame you have! Here are some ideas to spark your own creativity. Trust me, it's not hard at all! If you take the challenge, please let us know and post a link/photo in our comments!

(If you don't have an Ikea then go to the Dollar Store or Goodwill and see what you can find)

Idea #1: Use Pattern Tape

I bought a pattern 3M Scotch tape on sale at Target and just added it to the frame. What a difference. This ikea frame is the NYTTJA that sells for $2 bucks!

Idea #2: Use A Sharpie

Use whatever color you want and draw your favorite pattern. I used metallic silver.

Idea #3: Add Pattern Contact Paper to the Inside Mat

I had some contact paper I bought on sale at TJMaxx to add to the built-in shelves in the family room. I had some left over and just added it to the photo mat that came with the VIRSERUM ikea frame.

Idea #4: Paint

I got me this little frame at the Dollar Store and since I had some yellow paint left over from a project I decided to give it a try. I just love it! This little beauty is now part of my dining shelves
